Read on to find out:

Why Elimination Communication (EC)?

There are so many reasons to start EC. In summary: it is good for your baby, good for the planet and a huge money saver!

Although I thought it would be a challenge, it is much easier than I expected. As being a first-time mom I can’t imagine doing it any other way.

It feels so natural to bring baby to the potty when you see they need to go. A big plus is that she doesn’t have any diaper rash. And, I get to see her happy face when she is going to the potty. Yes indeed, she loves it!

It is also a huge psychological thing to be encouraged to use the toilet. Her mummy and daddy are cheering for her on the potty.

I can see from her smiling face that she likes it!

The 7 must have Elimination Communication Essentials

  • Elimination Communication (EC) Potty
  • EC clothes
  • Compatible cloth diapers
  • Cloth wipes
  • Wet bag
  • Mini wet bag – to go
  • Changing pads

Why these EC Essentials make your life easier

Elimination Communication (EC) Potty

A special EC potty is essential to have fast “catches”. You can place the potty near you so you can quickly respond to baby’ signals.
When going on the road this potty is a lifesaver. As it saves you time (and stress) searching for a good place to give a pottytunity. When your baby is able to sit on its own you can use a normal potty. Read all about EC on the road here.

EC clothes

When baby needs to go, she needs to go fast! Therefore, I highly encourage to dress in EC clothes. Things that are easy to take off. As there are so many options I wrote a whole blog about it which you can read here.

EC compatible Cloth diapers

I’m a huge fan of cloth diapers. As they are another amazing way to save the planet (and money). Also, they are much better for baby’s skin. We rarely (once) had diapers rash. The combination of cloth diapers and practising EC is the natural way to prevent diaper rash.

When practising EC “easy to take off” is again a huge factor when choosing your cloth diapers. When entering the jungle of cloth diapers you might feel overwhelmed. At least I did. There are so many options. Therefore, I made a selection with my favourite EC compatible cloth diapers.

Cloth wipes

When going on the cloth diapering road. Bio cotton cloth wipes are essential. It saves so much waste not having to buy disposable ones. Also, these eco soft wipes are keeping your baby’s skin happy. Again a huge money saver, great for the planet and with lots of love for your baby.

Wet bag

What do you do with the dirty cloth diapers? You put them in the wet bag. This bag has an easy zipper which blocks all smells from the outside world. You can wash the bag together with the diapers. So, you don’t have to get dirty hands when putting the diapers in the washing machine. You just flip the bag over and put it in the laundry too. Again, easy is essential with a newborn!

Mini wet bag to go

What do you do with dirty diapers while on the road? You put them in your mini wet bag to go! It is as simple as it sounds. These cute to go wet bags are doing the same job as the big brother above. Only these are smaller and perfect to take with you on your day out.

If you plan to stay away longer than a day. I would suggest bringing your big wet bag.

Changing pads

Changing pads have multiple functions while practising Elimination Communication. First of all to change your baby, anytime anywhere. Ideal to take with you on the road. But also to change your baby everywhere at home. For example on the sofa or on your bed.

Secondly, they are essential for naked observation time. Which is a very effective way to get to know your baby’s signals. When baby needs to go to the potty.

Summary

Elimination Communication (EC) is supernatural. Therefore, there is nothing you really need to practice EC.

However, these 7 EC essentials will make your life much easier. As they all help you to make the way to the potty faster. Babies can’t hold up so long.

So, easy is key to a successful EC journey.
