About me

Namaste, I'm Nikita. Thanks for being here! Anahata Mamas is made to inspire and connect with like-minded mums. To raise the next generation from a place of love. Besides being a mama I'm a certified yoga, pranayama and reiki teacher. My passion is to combine holistic practises with natural motherhood.

Holistic bedtime ritual

Your holistic bedtime ritual is a beautiful way to bond with your baby. Connect with your bundle of joy on a soul level. Feeling the love you share. Which results in a magical expansion of the heart: Anahata chakra.

Mindful bedtime benefits

Mindful bedtime moment benefits both mama and baby. First of all, your little one will settle down peacefully. While it is also relaxing for mama. Because it recharges your soul on an energetic level.

Create the space for a holistic bedtime ritual

Create the space for your holistic bedtime ritual. Set up a loving space to connect with your baby. This could be your bedroom if you are co-sleeping. Or baby’ bedroom.

A place for baby to lay down comfortable

You want the space to have either a changing table or bed. Where you can safely lay down baby to give a massage.

Holistic lights

Lights are also important to create a relaxing environment. An Himalayan Salt lamp is ideal. Which just gives enough light to see each other. But is still calming. As bright lights over stimulate baby – and yourself.

Essential oil diffuser

To stimulate all senses use essential oil. Ideally in a diffuser. As a few drops of organic lavender oil improves the baby’s relaxation. And yours! Also, essential oils have many health benefits.

Crystals

There are so many ways in which crystals are beneficial. Choose your favourite crystals to lay near the massage space. And give it the right intention. For example: Relaxation, love, healing.

We have a Rose Quartz there. The stone of universal love. Which also helped me to get pregnant. And an Amethyst healers stone that I got during one of my Reiki atonements. This one is for connection with your intuition.

Pick one of your favourites. Or start creating a crystal collection for your baby.

Temperature

Make sure the room is warm enough to be comfortable naked. As you want your baby to feel at ease. And enjoy the benefits of Skin to Skin contact. The touch of your hands on a baby’s skin is a magical Oxytocin maker!

Meditative Music

Meditative music will enhance the relaxing experience.

In our holistic bedtime ritual, I play the Koshi before and after the baby massage. The Koshi is one of our favourite meditation instruments. So that Saoirse knows when we start and finish the massage.

Baby Massage

Now it is time to start your baby massage. Which has so many benefits for your baby!

Make sure your baby is laying comfortable. That your space is set like written above. Good temperature, relaxing music and (optional) have some massage oil near.

Let baby know you are starting

Start the massage by connecting with your baby. Place your hand on her belly. Tell baby you like to start the massage.

We start our baby massage by the sign of love. As we are practising sign language. The sign of love is perfect to start off the holistic bedtime ritual. After that I play the Koshi and begin the baby massage. Which begins with softly undressing. Keep talking and smiling to your baby. There is no rush. This is your quality time together!

Baby leads the way

When your baby is fussy, giving a massage often helps to settle down.

However, if your little one stays upset don’t continue the massage. Baby leads the way. So, always follow baby’s signs. Keep on having eye contact with baby. When she starts looking away your little one might be tired or not interested. It can take a few times before they start to enjoy the massage.

Saoirse started to like massage from about 3 months old. Before that, she didn’t like to lay down and got fussy. As much as I wanted to give a massage. I followed her lead and didn’t continue. As we don’t want to force baby. Luckily, now she loves baby massage! And this is our special moment together.

Skin to Skin breastfeeding

A beautiful way to finish your holistic bedtime ritual is by Skin to Skin breastfeeding. Which means that baby lays with only her diaper on to your naked chest and breast. There are so many benefits of skin to skin time. For both you and your baby. Same counts for breastfeeding.

Skin to skin breastfeeding combines best of both worlds. As Skin to Skin time, as well as breastfeeding, create oxytocin. The love hormone. Which will make you and baby feel relaxed. As it reduces the level of stress. And create a magical bond between mama and baby.

Meditation & Reiki

Do you want to take your holistic bedtime ritual to the next level? Introduce meditation and/or Reiki. Which creates an even deeper connection. While you connect on a soul level with your baby. This is a wonderful moment for the Anahata Heart to Heart meditation.

Are you a reiki partitioner? This is a beautiful moment to give Reiki to yourself and your baby.

Summary

Your holistic bedtime ritual is a magical moment to connect with your little one. We combine lots of holistic practises like: the use of essential oil, baby massage, meditation and Reiki. And of course, breastfeeding.

This mindful moment before bedtime helps your baby to settle down. As reduces levels of stress. And, hereby helps to process the day.

However, not only your baby benefits from it. By giving your little one loving attention you are boosting your Oxytocin levels. Which is the love hormone that reduces levels of stress and anxiety. While it is filling you with love!

A moment of magic for mama & baby!
