Mindful Morning Ritual
At the moment Saoirse is only 4 months old. So although she can’t share her expressions just yet. I notice she sucks up everything I do. Like a sponge.
Therefor I love to introduce her to holistic daily rituals.
These rituals help me to live a mindful life. Taking time to digest, set intentions and to be grateful for whats already here.
Taking our card of the day
In the morning we pick an oracle card with our message of the day. At the moment we are using Shamanic Medicine cards.
However, when we’ve seen them all I’ll introduce her to a new deck of cards.
Saoirse loves seeing the pictures of the oracle cards. Which are beautifully drawn. While I read our daily message for us out loud.
This also helps me to set an intention for the day. Instead of rushing in and let the day just pass by.
Creating an altar
We have a small altar in our living room.
With our favourite crystals. Here we put our card of the day. As a mindful reminder of its message. And we also add treasures we find in nature.
Which I’ll explain more later in this text.
Playtime to connect
We use playtime to connect.
Bonding with baby is an important value in Attachment Parenting.
We find so much joy in playing together.
Saoirse loves to be on our belly for tummy time. While we also encourage her to crawl, sit up and stand. She just loves playing with us.
Therefore we both mummy and daddy both find a moment to play with her.
While we are fully in the moment with her.
So no phones or other distractions.
This is a perfect way to bond with baby. While having lots of fun together. Loving life!

Being in nature
Who doesn’t love to be outdoors? Being in nature is super healthy. Not only for us, but also for baby’s.
Walking in nature
This one is Woofer’s (our dog) favourite activity. Walking over the mountain. And our baby find just as much enjoyment out of it.
Full sensory
Being outdoors is a full sensory activity. As baby can look around: see, feel: the wind and sunshine, hear the sounds around and smell the nature.
These full sensory activities are super beneficial for baby’s development.
Introducing baby to nature
Take full sensory experience one step further. By introducing extra touch to your baby.
First of all, show all the elements of the plant/tree and explain what you see.
It might seems silly to explain the details to a baby. As you might think that they don’t understand a word. However, baby’s learn from everything you say and do. So it’s never too early to plant seeds.
As you go really close to the tree.
You be amazed about how interesting it all looks when you try to see from your baby’s eyes. Like the first time you really see a tree. In this way you are also practicing mindfulness.
Introduce touch:
- Feel the trees
- Touch a leaf
- Take a treasure home
a pinecone or feather you find on the way
It’s amazing to see the excitement in your baby’s eyes. When you truly take the time to see and feel nature.
The treasure we find on the way we put on our altar. To bring a piece of nature home with us.
Side-note:
there is always nature around you. Also big cities have beautiful trees. And even on the side of the road you find beautiful pieces of nature.
Mindful outdoor time
Mindful outdoor time: just “being” in nature.
In our society it seems like you always need to do something.
We want to show Saoirse that it perfectly fine just to be.
Do nothing. And enjoy the now.
So we try to find a moment each day to just put her on a blanket outside. While she lays down and observes everything she sees.
Without any stimulations from us, toys or screens* (which we are fully avoiding).
These mindful moments make her calm.
Dancing
We love dancing.
As Saoirse’s mummy and daddy found each-other on the dance floor. Music holds a special place in our heart…
But doesn’t everybody love music?
Saoirse loves dancing. It makes us all: loving life!
Therefore we dance everyday.
Joy
We love to dance with the whole family for fun. While Saoirse is laughing and smiling in the carrier.
As she loves the movements. But a big part of the excitement is to see mum and dad having so much.
At least that’s what I feel..
Dancing to sleep with the “Magic Song”
When Saoirse is getting tired or fussy there is one magical remedy.
Dancing to her “Magic Song’: Mul Mantra.
We call this the magic song as it sets her ease straight away.
But only this one. Not another song from the album… Crazy he?
And with the magic song on repeat (max. 2 times) she sleeps like a rose.
There is a big chance she loves this mantra so much because I was playing it often during my pregnancy.
So find a song your baby is familiar with.
And the “Magic Song” will soothe your baby fast!
Singing & Making Music
Making music and singing is another favourite here.
Singing mantras
Don’t get me wrong. I’m a terrible singer.
However Saoirse loves it when I sing mantras to her.
And, honestly, I love it too!
Win = Win!
So if you haven’t already, start singing to your little one. She will be your biggest fan! As baby’s just love the voice of mama…
Shamanic instruments
Started as a little try-out. Saoirse loves it when I play the shamanic drum and rattle to her. I guess it brings back memories…
At least from the pregnancy. As my doula played the drum during a few ceremonies.
She is so amazed by the drum. And looks with big eyes and an open mouth.
Highly recommendable to give shamanic instruments it a try!
Meditation Instruments
We also love playing meditation instruments.
Another favourite for babies are the Koshi instruments. Which are like meditation wind-chimes. Therefor having a calming effect on baby’s.
While being pregnant I used to play them at the end of the yoga classes. All the times I could feel her move.
And still, she loves the sounds!
It makes her calm and relaxed.
Perfect to settle her when she is fussy. But I also use them for our holistic bedtime ritual.
Reading for baby
Reading is important for your baby’s speech and language development. Which already starts from the moment they are born. With the right collections of books, you can make reading time holistically.
We love:
- Baby ♡ Calm: ABC of Mindfulness
- I am Human, I am Love, I am Yoga (3 books)
- The world shines for you
So, we combine language development with learning beautiful life lessons.
Holistic rituals with baby before bedtime
Just before bedtime is a perfect moment for a nighttime ritual. So that your baby can let go of the excitement of the day. And drift off into dreamland. Our bedtime ritual includes baby massage, reiki, sound healing and breastfeeding meditation.
