Self-care for mindful mamas is essentials. Being a mum is magical! However “me-time” seems to be gone with the wind. Being a loving and fully devoting mum is so amazing.I love every moment with Saoirse.
However, I did miss my daily holistic practices. Therefore, I’m happy to share these 5-minute selcare ideas. Which you can easily combine with busy mum-life.

Self care is essential mama
Self-care is so essential mama. As can only give what you have. But it easy to forget yourself. In the midst of having a new family. However, you need to keep your own cup full to be a loving mum.
One thing is sure. Being a (first time) mum really gives a whole new perception on time. Whilst before mum-life I could easily spend an hour (or much more) on the yoga mat. Now I can hardly (read: not) find 5 minutes. To be on the mat, alone.
However, these less than 5 minute practises you can easily combine with motherhood. Yay!
Breathing Session: Wim Hof style
The power of the breath
Wim Hof is my hero!
Such an inspiring papa. He scientifically proved the power of the breath. Which in Ayurvedic and Indian traditions is known for ages. The power of Pranayama. However, Wim Hoff translates it perfect into our Western society. Due to the scientific proof of how breathing boosts immunity. And heals diseases. Even our more sceptical “Anaharta Papa” is into breathing because of Wim Hoff.
Wim hof is not possible when pregnant!!!
Before getting pregnant I was doing a daily 30 minute Wim Hof breathing session. Which I loved so much! But needed to stop the moment I was pregnant. Wim Hof breathing was the one thing I missed most during my pregnancy.
When being pregnant you can’t hold your breath. Which is called: retention. As your baby won’t get any breath too.
As much as I was looking forward to starting again. It didn’t happen just yet. Because finding 30 minutes to yourself. And being a mum… You get me!
Therefore, I’m super thrilled to share this 5 minute Wim Hoff breathing practice.
5 Minute breathing session
This breathing practises you can do anywhere. You only need 5 minutes of time. Ideally, undisturbed. And a comfortable bed or sofa.
Cold therapy: Wim Hof style
Wim Hof combines breathing techniques and cold therapy. Together they create more: “Happiness, strength and health” in your life. Wim Hof “The Iceman” is known for jumping into ice baths. You don’t have an Ice bath near? No worries. Cold therapy also works in the shower.
Although it might sound horrible at first.
I LOVE taking cold showers.
And soon you will too!
Fastest energy reboot
A few minutes cold shower makes your feel super recharged. The fastest way to get more energy. While also boosting your immune system. A few minutes of a cold shower, honestly, makes me happy, more awake and energised. Especially now, being a mum, the cold shower is my favourite energy reboot.

Shower Ritual
“The shower is your only moment of me-time”: Is what my best mum friend told me. And she gave me lush shampoo to make shower time into a ritual. A perfect piece of advice!
Make shower into a ritual.
This is your moment! I usually start with the cold shower to get energy. And then finish with a lovely shampoo ritual. Which makes shower time a perfect recharging moment. To fully recharge.
Daily Inspiration
Take a moment for daily inspiration. You can take an Oracle Card or tarot card. For your daily soul messages. When I take my daily card I ask: “What does Saoirse want to say to me?”. And take the card as an inside from her soul to mine. I truly believe our babies are our gurus. They know so much more than we do.
Daily Gratitude
Focussing on the things you’re grateful for magnifies your happiness. At the end of the day. Write down 3 things that you are grateful for. Beautiful things about this day.
For example, play-time with your baby, delicious fruits from the garden or the pancakes daddy made today. You name it!
This is also a quick way to keep up with daily journaling. All ways to live a mindful lifestyle.
Get juicy!
Make yourself a nice veggie juice. Which is amazing for your health too! Ginger will help you boost your energy level. Healthy (sugar free) smoothy or herbal tea will do too.
Practice mindfulness while drinking your juice
Take this moment to fully enjoy the juice. Tasting every sip. Feeling how the juice enters your body. Following it all the way through your body. Practising mindfulness. By fully being in the moment. Whilst on the other side nurturing your body.
You deserve it mama!
Summary
These holistic self-care practices are fast and effective. As they all take 5 minutes more or less.
Therefore, perfect to combine with mum-life. Holistic means integrating body, mind and soul.
The Wim Hof practises are aiming to let go of your mind. While healing your body and boosting the immune system. “Get Juicy” is also focussing on a healthy body and clear, empty, mind.
Finally, the “Daily Gratitude” and ”Inspiration” are practises on a soul level.
